How the Brokerage Calculator works

Brokerage is only one of six charges on every trade. STT (Securities Transaction Tax) is the biggest for delivery trades; exchange transaction charges, the SEBI fee and stamp duty are tiny percentages of turnover; and 18% GST applies to brokerage and exchange charges.

The break-even price is what you must sell at to recover all charges — useful for intraday, where a few paise matter.

Net P&L = (Sell − Buy) × Qty − [ Brokerage + STT + Exchange charges + SEBI fee + Stamp duty + DP charge + GST ]

Worked example

  • Segment: Delivery
  • Exchange: NSE
  • Quantity: 100
  • Buy price: ₹1,000
  • Sell price: ₹1,050

Buying 100 shares at ₹1,000 and selling at ₹1,050 on NSE with zero delivery brokerage: gross profit ₹5,000, STT ₹205, exchange charge about ₹6, stamp duty ₹15, DP charge ₹15.34 plus GST — roughly ₹245 of charges, leaving about ₹4,755 net.
