Let’s take a deep dive into creating screens on sharpely’s Advance Screen Builder.
In our first example, we’ll create a screener for Institutional Accumulation.
The objective is to identify stocks that FIIs and DIIs are aggressively accumulating.
Step 1: Creating a custom screen
We could focus on stocks that only DIIs or FIIs have accumulated, but a better metric is where the net (FIIs and DIIs) buying is positive.
For that, we will look at the Q-o-Q change of DIIs and FIIs as positive as compared to the previous quarter.
Such a metric isn’t directly available. But thanks to our custom metrics you can design it in an instant. Here’s how:

As you can see our custom metric is ready to go.
Step 2: Adding the other conditions
Let’s add other metrics to create our screener.
We want stocks that have seen a rising demand, strong EPS growth, and also solid returns on equity.
Here are the conditions we’ll use to achieve this desired result:

We have used our custom metric and set it at greater than 0, indicating a positive change.
Next, we used the volume surge ratio, which tells you an increasing interest in the stock. Since we’re combining a lot of other metrics, we’ve taken a reasonable number of 1.5.
Step 3: Filtering Stocks
The other metrics are self-explanatory. Let’s check the results. We’ll click on ‘Run’

9 stocks qualify our parameters.
Step 4: Backtest screen
Let’s run a quick backtest and check how this screen performs.

Not bad, right?
