Example 4: Improving Fundamentals
Category: Fundamental Screeners
This screen filters stocks on two main principles– improving fundamentals and an increase in promoter holdings. Let’s see how you can create such a screen.

Here you can see the ‘OFFSET_BY’ added a bunch of times. Many times, one needs to compare a metric against a specific period in the past. In this case, the period is 1 year. So, it’s one year ago data for the same metric.
Let’s now see what happens when we click ‘Run’.

Backtest Results
12 stocks qualified the set conditions. Let us now look at the backtesting results for this screen.

If we go to the ‘Performance charts’ and select ‘1 Year Rolling Returns’ we see that initially, the screen struggled against the benchmark but later picked up pace.
Over the 3 years, the portfolio gave strong returns of over 130%. Let’s look at that snapshot, too.

We won’t be going into different time frames here, but we urge you to look into it for any screen that you backtest.
Let’s move on to our example number 5 now.
