Ashok Leyland Limited's M&HCV goods-carrier sales increased 17.1% year-on-year to 23,337 units in Q1 FY27, according to SIAM data, as India's M&HCV goods-carrier market grew 19.6% to 78,371 units on replacement demand and lower acquisition costs after GST rationalisation.

Ashok Leyland is among the manufacturers affected by the Commission for Air Quality Management order dated August 19 that will bar new petrol, diesel and CNG N1 vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in Delhi from January 1, 2027 and non-electric N2 vehicles of 3.5-7.5 tonnes from January 1, 2028, with phased extension to NCR districts. The Commission noted Ashok Leyland, through subsidiary Switch Mobility, has electric N1 offerings.
