Central Depository Services (India) Limited, along with NSDL, is developing a new electronic securities wallet called DEMAT 2.0 to record holdings of India's upcoming tokenised bonds on a distributed ledger, according to sources. Investors will need both a wholesale central bank digital currency wallet from a bank and the new securities wallet to buy and trade the REC Limited pilot bonds, with subsequent trades limited to participants holding both compatible wallets.
