Cochin Shipyard Limited built and delivered the anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft INS Mangrol to the Indian Navy, with the Ministry of Defence stating the Kochi-built vessel comprises over 80 percent indigenous content and is equipped for underwater surveillance, coastal anti-submarine warfare, low-intensity maritime operations and mine warfare.

Cochin Shipyard will lease 18.16 acres on an island near Kochi from the Government of Kerala for a ship block building project involving around Rs 5,000 crore in investment. Chief Minister V D Satheesan said the project, cleared by the Cabinet after discussions with Cochin Shipyard, is expected to create about 2,000 direct jobs plus indirect employment, with the state receiving Rs 1.45 crore annually as lease rent, about Rs 1.70 crore including GST.

Cochin Shipyard Limited gained 1-2% after the Defence Ministry notified its sixth Positive Indigenisation List of 405 items, including warships, to be sourced only from Indian suppliers.
