Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited reported paneer revenue rose 34% year-on-year to Rs 248.3 crore in the June quarter, highlighting growth for organised players in a largely unorganised market. The Erode-based company holds a 19% share in the category and is benefiting from rising protein demand, modern retail and quick-commerce penetration, and tighter enforcement against analogue paneer by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and state authorities.

Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited clarified in a stock exchange filing that it has not received any notice from FSSAI or the Tamil Nadu Food Safety Department directing an inquiry into its paneer products, responding to reports that the Central Food Safety Department had sought laboratory testing of its paneer samples over alleged poor quality. The company said it will respond appropriately to any communication under applicable law. The development follows a September 23 PTI report that FSSAI initiated action over misleading claims on Milky Mist Fresh Low Fat Cream, Farm Fresh Curd and Greek Yoghurt sold via Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket, and a report of seizure of Milky Mist khoa at a Karnataka unit.
