NTPC Green Energy Limited has placed an order for 100 megawatts of vanadium flow batteries, as Renewable Energy Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said domestic manufacturers are working to develop supply capacity and that growing demand and volumes are expected to bring down vanadium flow battery prices.

NTPC Green Energy said its wholly owned subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy emerged as successful bidder in SECI's e-reverse auction for assured peak supply of 6,000 MWh (1,500 MW x 4 hours) from ISTS-connected renewable projects, securing 500 MW at a discovered tariff of Rs 6.00/kWh.
