NHPC Limited was named by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in its 21 August advisory as a renewable energy implementation agency that can provide up to four months force majeure relief to projects scheduled to be commissioned on or after 28 February affected by West Asia war supply-chain disruptions.

The power ministry is exploring providing about Rs 18,700 crore of low-interest subordinated debt to support NHPC Limited's 1,856 MW Sawalkote hydroelectric project in Jammu and Kashmir, a proposal that remains exploratory and subject to expenditure finance committee consideration and subsequent approvals, with the project cost indicated at Rs 31,380 crore.
