CSB Bank Limited, in which Canada's Fairfax Financial owns about 40% since 2018, may be sold or merged with IDBI Bank Limited to meet Reserve Bank of India rules. Sources said Fairfax is likely to get up to two years to consolidate holdings, is exploring a sale of its entire CSB Bank stake, and views a merger as complicated given labour issues and CSB Bank's Rs862.82 billion business size versus IDBI Bank's nearly $42 billion in assets.
