How the Gold SIP Calculator works

A gold SIP buys a fixed rupee amount of gold every month — through a gold ETF, a gold fund-of-funds, or digital gold — so you accumulate grams at an average price instead of timing the market.

The projection compounds your instalments at the assumed gold price growth. Gold does not pay interest or dividends; its return is purely price appreciation in rupee terms (global gold price × USD/INR).

Gold funds and ETFs are the cleanest SIP route: SEBI-regulated, no GST, and taxed as long-term capital gains at 12.5% after 12 months.

FV = P × [ ((1+i)^n − 1) / i ] × (1+i), i = expected gold growth ÷ 12

Worked example

  • Monthly gold SIP: ₹5,000
  • Expected gold price growth (p.a.): 11%
  • Time period: 10 Yr

₹5,000 a month for 10 years at 11% gold price growth totals ₹6 lakh invested and roughly ₹10,94,936 in value. A ₹1,000 SIP over the same period builds about ₹2,18,987.
